The vulnerability of the human head our twentieth century lifestyle make injuries to the scalp especially common. With a thorough appreciation of the anatomy of the scalp and clinical application, a surgeon can give the patient an opportunity for successful rehabilitation.
The usual methods for repair of a scalp defect are skin graft, scalp flap, myocutaneous flap and free flap transfer with microvascular anastomoses.
The purpose of this paper is not to offer any new methods of treatment of scalp defect, but to present a small series of our experiences which have been treated by the usual well-known methods. We present 7 cases in which scalp defects were repaired seccessfully with local scalp flaps and posterior trapezius myocutaneous flaps.
